New students at Just Earth Uganda
Welcome to Just Earth Uganda’s Newsletter!
What’s happening in Uganda right now?
What has happened?
Preparations for the upcoming class and future recruitmentLast month we held a pre-training meeting in the community to share our Farmer Field School program with local farmers. Inspired by the success stories of past participants, many signed up and are now ready to begin their training.
We also had a highly encouraging meeting with church and community leaders, whose support will be crucial for mobilizing and recruiting the next class.
What’s coming up in April?
It’s almost one year since we planted 50,000 trees in a single month as part of the King of Kooki’s coronation celebrations. The anniversary is approaching, and we’re preparing to plant even more this year under the theme “Plant a tree, save lives.”
Meet the team
Amos Ssekigudde
Amos is our agronomist who leads all Farmer Field School trainings. He often spends two weeks each month away from family—visiting students in their homes to coach them in their own environment. His dedication has already helped many farmers boost their yields.
A message from Amos: “My name is Amos, and I am the agronomist at Just Earth Uganda. After seven years of service, I am grateful to be part of an organization that transforms communities...”
Success stories
Ngobya Frugensio
“I had given up farming after years of poor harvests and depleted soil. Despite growing up on a farm, I couldn’t provide for my family and switched to trading, which strained my relationships. Then Just Earth Uganda taught me sustainable farming techniques and soil restoration. Now my children go to school, my wife is happy, and I’ve even started livestock. Thanks to Just Earth Uganda, my life has been transformed.”
The Road to Sustainability
Today we rely on donations to run our farmer trainings. To secure a long-term future, we’re developing our own income streams:
Dairy Farm: Our pastures are flourishing, roads on the farm are complete, and we’re preparing silage before the rainy season.
Coffee by Just Earth: In February, Pastor Wilberforce and Carl traveled to Uganda to explore revenue ideas. Expanding our coffee plantation to sell coffee in Sweden is already underway and looks very promising.
