Just Earth Nyhetsbrev: March 2025

Just Earth Uganda

Welcome to CKS’s newsletter for the Just Earth mission project!

This month’s newsletter will focus especially on the Just Earth Uganda graduating class and the ceremony that took place at the end of February.

Graduation February 2025

A Day Worth Celebrating

On 21 February, 28 students received their long-awaited diplomas in front of family and friends. Everyone in the room was dressed in their finest suits and dresses. It was impossible to miss how much this meant to our farmers and how significant it was for their families to be part of the occasion. The atmosphere was incredibly positive, with applause and cheering like a constant song in the hall.

One person who really stood out was Matthias Byarugaba, who graduated at 76 years old. He has access to a relatively small plot of land but, with great creativity, came up with an ingenious solution to maximize what little he has. Inspired by the construction of a new three-story house, he decided to build his own “multi-storey” farm beds. Using logs and tarps, Matthias created three levels of planting on his land, placing the crops with the lowest sun requirements at the bottom and those needing the most sun at the top. He has shown us all that age need not stop anyone from transforming their life for the better.

During the ceremony, Pastor Wilberforce delivered an encouraging and challenging sermon on how growth—personal, spiritual, and economic—follows biblical principles. Our dear agronomist Amos gave what can be seen as the final teaching session for this class.

Prayer Requests and Other Information

Prayer Requests

Funding

This year, Sida’s reduced financing has led to one of Just Earth Uganda’s biggest donors seeing a budget cut. As a result, JEU’s overall budget must be reduced by about 40 percent. This significant cut means scaling back current operations and postponing the planned new school for this year.

To help prevent similar situations in the future, several projects have been launched to make JEU more self-sustaining. The most ambitious is our own coffee brand, to be launched later in 2025. That—and other initiatives—will take time before yielding meaningful impact. Please pray for these projects and for other organizations to recognize the value of our work and offer support.

New Students

Pray that God will guide Just Earth Uganda in identifying the right farmers and communities He wishes to reach through this program. Pray that these individuals will be receptive and enthusiastic about participating in the Farmer Field Schools, and that they will be blessed and strengthened by their involvement.

New Vehicle

Just Earth Uganda is in great need of a new utility vehicle. Today, the team relies on a 30-year-old truck that keeps breaking down and costing a fortune in repairs.

We appreciate your feedback—let us know if you’re missing anything or want to hear more about a particular topic. If you have questions or concerns, simply reply to this newsletter and someone on the team will get back to you as soon as possible.

Wishing you a blessed month, and we’ll be in touch soon.
