New students at Just Earth Uganda
Welcome to Just Earth Uganda’s Newsletter!
What’s happening in Uganda right now?
What has happened?
May has been a busy month at Just Earth Uganda’s Farmer Field Schools. Our students have completed intensive training sessions focused on the establishment and management of so-called “nurseries”—dedicated plots for raising seedlings from seed or cuttings before transplanting them. They’ve also learned about seed selection and planting methods. Each week the farmers have taken part in hands-on sessions, making nursery management one of their favorite topics.
Our team also conducted the first farm visits of the year, which are crucial for our trainers to understand and support each farmer’s individual needs.
The Road to Sustainability
Dairy Farm: Construction of the farm manager’s house, the barn, and the latrine is progressing and will soon be complete. We’ve also preserved feed for the cows about to arrive by preparing silage and hay sufficient to feed five cows for six months—and we continue to build up our reserves.
Coffee by Just Earth: Amos keeps traveling around Uganda in search of the best bean for our coffee project. Over the past month he’s explored northern regions to test a new variety different from those he’s researched before.

I chose to work with Just Earth Uganda because I wanted to be part of a team making a real difference in the community and in people’s lives. This role has given me an incredible opportunity for both personal and professional growth.”

Prayer Requests
New vehicleJust Earth Uganda desperately needs a new utility truck—our current vehicle breaks down constantly, and our work depends on reliable transport.
Thanksgiving
WeatherWe give thanks for the increased rains in Kooki, which have enabled us to work efficiently and allowed our farmers’ crops to flourish. The rains have breathed new life into the fields and raised hopes for a bountiful harvest.
